Overview

Prompteka is a privacy-focused macOS application for organizing and managing AI prompts. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring complete data ownership.

Data Collection and Storage

We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your data. All information you create in Prompteka remains exclusively on your device.

Specifically:

• All prompts, folders, and settings are stored locally in an SQLite database on your Mac
• No data is transmitted to our servers or any third parties
• No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind
• No user accounts, authentication, or cloud services
• No internet connection required for the app to function

Local Data Storage

Prompteka stores all application data in the following location on your Mac:

• ~/Library/Application Support/com.prompteka.app/

This data includes:

• Your prompt library (text content, titles, icons, colors)
• Folder organization and hierarchy
• Application settings and preferences
• Window layout and display preferences

Data Security and Encryption

Important Security Notice: The local database file is not encrypted at rest. While your data never leaves your Mac, it is stored in plaintext in the SQLite database file.

What this means for you:

• Privacy: Your data is completely private (no cloud sync, no external transmission)
• macOS Protection: macOS sandboxing prevents other apps from accessing Prompteka's data
• FileVault: If you enable macOS FileVault, your data is encrypted when your Mac is powered off or locked
• When logged in: The database file is accessible to anyone with access to your Mac account

We strongly recommend:

• Do NOT store passwords, API keys, or cryptocurrency seed phrases in Prompteka
• Do NOT store credit card numbers, SSNs, or other confidential credentials
• DO use Prompteka for AI prompts, code snippets, and non-sensitive reference materials
• For sensitive credentials, use a dedicated password manager like 1Password or Bitwarden

Data Export and Backup

Prompteka provides JSON export/import functionality that allows you to:

• Create backups of your prompt library
• Transfer data between devices manually
• Restore your library if needed

These export files are created and managed entirely by you. We have no access to or knowledge of these files.

Third-Party Services

Prompteka does not integrate with or use any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics tools.

Children's Privacy

Prompteka does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Since the app does not connect to the internet, you are responsible for checking this page periodically for updates.

Your Data Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

• Access: All your data is accessible within the app at all times
• Export: Use the Export feature to create a JSON backup
• Delete: Uninstalling the app removes all local data, or you can manually delete specific prompts/folders
• Transfer: Use Export/Import to move data between devices
